printing from photoshop cs 2

I have an Epson R1800 and when it comes to printing something with a little depth, it blacks it out.. and wont' print the inch below the sufrace so to speak... got any ideas how to fix this??

    Try making sure that under 'print with preview' that 'black point compensation' is unchecked. I checked it by mistake one time and couldn't figure out why the printer was suddenly having similar difficulties. It took me forever to figure out the solution. Hopefully, your solution is something easy like this, and it won't take you forever and a day to resolve it!
