Hello!
I have a Mac lap top, and was wondering if anyone had any advice or recommendations as to which photoshop would be best to get.
I am a student, and would like to use mostly for fliers, but also some photo editing.
Help?

Re: mac Photoshop recommendations?
Sat, April 18, 2009 - 9:06 PMHi Alaska,
If your just doing general flyer stuff and some simple photo editting I think you could get away with PS Elements. But if you can swing I would suggest CS3 or 4.
There's another option thats even free and it has most of the features of PS Element. But there's two problems one I can't remember the name of it though I think it starts with an F and two its not as user friendly as PS.
Hope this helps.

Tue, April 21, 2009 - 11:21 AMThere's also another great cheap PS alternative for Mac users called GraphicConverter: www.lemkesoft.com/
It's shareware, so it costs something like $35 US. It has basic image editing capabilities like levels, contrast/hue/saturation, and some filter effects, and it also (as its name implies) converts image files into nearly any format you could ever want. I love it because it easily prints portfolios of image thumbnails--a great way to quickly get small versions of a whole folder full of image files.
check it out--I hope it works for you.

Tue, April 21, 2009 - 5:05 PMThanks guys! I feel so limited editing photos in iphoto, so I think I want something a little more advanced that can also import text and fonts for creating flyers. Hmmm... Decisions, decisions!! -

Re: mac Photoshop recommendations?
Mon, April 27, 2009 - 9:53 AMFWIW: I do most of my animations using ImageJ on my Mac:
www.youtube.com/profile
I have *NO* Idea how one would even approach this sort of thing in Photoshop, or whether it is even possible.
Using the 64 bit version of ImageJ It can access almost all 4 G of my RAM.
Sometimes it pegs at about 3.5G while creating some projects.
If my MBP supported more RAM the 64bit version could probably even go higher than 4G.
Best thing about ImageJ is that it is a GREAT piece of software! Also FREE!
