Printer issues

topic posted Sat, April 5, 2008 - 12:10 PM by  BUCK-tard
We recently upgrades to Photoshop (Extended) CS3 and are running OSX 10.5.2. In both binary and jpeg encoded modes to an HP Laserjet (methinks a 4050N) we get a continuous stream of blank pages (an occasional one will have 6-8 zapf dingbat-looking characters at the top). Our not-so-helpful IT department chose this as the solution:

gimp-print.sourceforge.net/

now it prints, but looks like some dot-matrix printer from the 80's.

Have any of you encountered this problem and found a different successful workaround?

First question- does anything else print? (From Word, Text Edit, Preview)

Second - Have you downloaded the latest HP drivers for your printer?

Q1: Yes, other text-based apps print, not problem. As I recall, we did try to print from Preview and the same error occurred.

Q2: To my knowledge IT did. WE have people using OSX 10.5.1 no problem. 10.5.2 seems to be part of the key.
